Another world is not only possible. She is on her way. Maybe many of us won't be here to greet her. But on a quiet day if I listen very carefully I can hear her breathing.'
These words by Arundhati Roy inspired the exhibition which was shown at CAB 2009 at the close of the thirty year war. Aspects that touch on collateral damage, on Internally Displaced Persons returning home, and reflections on the complex forms of human interaction are explored through seven related collections. Video, digital, mixed media and sculptural installations explore fear as the base of inhumanity and intolerance, and the need to change our own selves if we want to make a change in our surroundings. It suggests that the end of war is not peace - it is just the beginning of the long road to win a lasting and sustained peace through forgiveness and reconciliation.
